When all is said and done, when it comes time for the next general election I really hope that people will remember the “revelations” of this weekend. Our current government have displayed a blatant hypocrisy and double standard on a whole new level...
Hiding behind their now obviously transparent sound bite of “we’re all in this together” they have shown themselves up with lies and spin. Their true “them and us” mentality has been made abundantly clear.
...
It absolute disgusts me that so many MPs, 51 and counting, took to social media to support Cummings. They defend his flagrant disregard for the guidelines that he himself helped put in place and add to the spin that they think we will all buy into.
...
We have seen a very public display of the way they wish to frame events and how they want to control the narrative to protect themselves and their own party at all costs.
...
This weekend, every single one of them has shown that they have little to no comprehension of the mood of the nation right now.
...
If they chose to stick with their current position and continue to defend and protect Cummings it will be very clear that no only do they not have a handle on the mood of the nation, they simply do not care.
...
So much of this country already felt that much of the government really don’t care about us as people and this whole situation has brought it all into sharp focus.
...
We can rant and protest all we want right now but ultimately, when the time comes, we will all have an opportunity to show them exactly what we think of the way they have handled this crisis, in the voting booth. I truly hope that the nation do not forget all of this.
...
For me personally, it is just another item for the very long list of reasons that I will never vote Conservative.
