Last week, Rev. Fr Nichodemus Benedict from the Catholic Mission in Idon village officiated in #MassBurial of 11 victims of the most recent #AdaraMassacres, in Makyali around 13 May. Departing from usual script, the #MakyaliMassacre was in daytime.

The victims in this #AdaraMassacre included 6 members of the local vigilante. Makyali is about 55km from Kaduna city. The killings in Makyali took place between 07:00-11:00 hrs in daytime & the killers reportedly overran soldiers on their approach to the village

At least 2 other members of the local vigilante in Makyali are still reported missing from this instalment of the #AdaraMassacres. On the same day, 2 other villages - Idanu Doka & Unguwan Rana Doka - not far from Makyali, were also attacked.

1 of those killed in Gonan Rogo was Jonathan Yakubu, 36. He was killed wth wife, Sheba, 25; 3 female children, Patience,15, Revelation,9 & Rejoice, 6. Isaiah Jonathan, 13 & Ziporah Jonathan, 10 survived the attacks with multiple cuts on their bodies as did Sheba's months Old baby

Isaiah & Ziporah remain hospitalised. Jonathan Yakubu's 2nd wife & the months-old whose injuries from this instalment of #AdaraMassacres are not considered life-threatening, are being looked after in displacement in Kufana village.

President of the Adara Dev Association, Awema Maisamari, says these #AdaraMassacres have included at least 63 attacks, resulting in 107 people killed, 49 injured & at least 111 houses burnt since Jan 2020. The govt hasn't said much yet.

These #AdaraMassacres have led to massive displacement of Adara communities with humanitarian agencies reporting over 12,000 newly internally displaced. A new IDP settlement is building up in Rimau, site of the Catholic Deanery in Kajuru LGA.
