Hi, today is another sad day for sns as we’ve lost another beautiful soul to cyber bullying. I know that Hana Kimura is not related to the purposes of this particular account, but I felt it necessary considering the nature of twitter and idols recently (pls read thread) — https://twitter.com/hanadayo0903/status/1263890853925289984
— Right now, the whole world is in a global struggle, with many left alone and turning to sns for any hope of social interaction. That being said, people should NOT have to open up their sns to d*ath threats, or wishes for them to d*e. —
— Hana Kimura was 22; loved by everyone around her, the community she worked in, and even those who were not on good terms with her recognize that her life ended much too early. How many more beautiful souls must we lose before the world learns how to treat people properly? —
— How is it that people who are clearly loved by those around them, are being driven to committing such acts because of the words of a stranger behind a screen? We see it nearly everyday on media platforms, as if it’s become the norm—
— “they subject themselves to the judgement of others” ? NO. Those who defend the words that drive people (no matter what their status may be) to su*cide are spewing cowardly excuses for being unable to properly follow the terms and agreements of this platform —
— I know that to hope for no more cases such as these is a utopian expectation in our society. But for me, I am TIRED of having to worry about whether or not a figure is about to take their own life because of the type of horrible words that are shared across these screens —
— This world NEEDS to realize the power of their words and do so repsonsibly. Even if it took only seconds to type, their impact can potentially follow the recipient from their screens to their graves. And that is NOT the type of power that people should be proud of. —
— We mourn for the loss of Hana Kimura, and the life she should have lived. We also mourn for all the previous lives lost, and apologize for that we have not learned to fix the way we treat each other as human beings. —
— I apologize to my four followers that this is not the normal content and nature of this account. However, I cannot apologize for posting this thread as I find it to be a necessary message for all my sns accounts. —
— I personally dedicate this account to keeping positive messages and never engage with hatred in any way. But unfortunately, we see that the “flag and report” method has failed and today we are met with the consequences. —
— So I only ask that this message be shared to ONCE AGAIN spread awareness of the impact of our digital words. In these difficult times, I can only hope that humanity will bear our compassion towards one another and emerge better than when this year began. —
— Life is such a beautiful thing. We should not be the ones responsible for taking away that beauty from other human beings. Instead, our goal should be to foster beauty into the lives that need it most. It’s not hard to share a few words of positivity, even to a stranger. —
Love and condolences to Hana’s loved ones and any who have been impacted by her sudden absence from this world. She shined so brightly in this short life she had on earth, and I’m sure that pink brightness will carry on into the next. Rest In Peace Hana Kimura. 💖
