Doing some genealogy last night I came across a young man who died in the Great War 1918. When I come across fallen soldiers, I like to find out as much as I can about the campaign they fell in and I upload a screengrab of their Commonwealth War Graves Commission entry....
He was a member of the 9th Bn. of the Norfolk Regiment. What struck me is just how many young men from his regiment died on the same day. Reports say that they were volunteers with poor equipment and not enough officers to lead them - like lambs to the slaughter.
