Beloved the Christian race is a long race, it takes years. We are to run this race till Jesus comes to rapture the church or till when we die.
But there is a way to run this race successfully, there is a convenient way to run this race and it should be RUN DAILY.

Luke 9:23
"Then he said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after me, Let him deny himself, and TAKE UP HIS CROSS DAILY and follow me.

Beloved if you desire to know Jesus Christ, if you desire to follow him, If you desire to fellowship with him, if you desire to be in communion with him. You must
1) Deny yourself.
2) Take up your cross daily.
3) Follow Jesus.

To deny yourself you have to deny yourself of your ambitions, it means to forget who you are, it means to forget your earthly achievements, it means to humble yourself in his presence, it means to give Jesus Christ complete access to your life.
Taking up your cross daily means
1) you have to die to the flesh daily.
2) you have to fellowship with God daily.
3) you have to do will of God daily.
4) You have to resist the devil daily.
5) you have to avoid temptations daily.

Only after you have done all this can you FOLLOW JESUS.

Beloved the sign of a matured Christian is that you carry your cross daily. Jesus Christ carried his own cross and at a point someone else had to help him carry it to Golgotha; to where he was crucified.
The cross is where the sinful/carnal nature of man dies.

Even Apostle Paul said in
1 Corinthians 15:31
"I die daily"
Beloved you must deny yourself of every fleshy and carnal satisfaction, you must carry your cross upon which you must crucify your flesh and let it die there only then can you FOLLOW JESUS.

Beloved make it your point of duty to follow Jesus this morning, make it a point of duty to surrender your life to Jesus this morning.
Make up your mind to deny yourself, be determined to carry your cross daily and Follow Jesus FOR only this is the RECIPE FOR SPIRITUAL POWER.

Perhaps you just read this thread and you have not given your life to Jesus Christ.
I want you to know that Jesus Christ came to save you from sin and eternal damnation.
