One of the things that makes #SchittsCreek so special is the costumes. As @danjlevy reveals in the farewell special #BestWishesWarmestRegards, "Wardrobe is probably the most important element in storytelling outside of actually writing."
The costumes of each character reveal so much about them in a single glance. The Rose family's sharp, monochromatic designer clothes immediately contrast with their surroundings, highlighting the way they don't quite fit in.
From Alexis’ soft Coachella chic and Moira's over the top ensembles to John’s perfectly tailored suits and David’s textured looks, every Rose’s outfit gives insight into them as individuals and as a co-ordinated whole.
Moira's costumes are a particular stand-out of the show and central to her character, as she picks clothes and wigs to suit her mood. Catherine O'Hara herself played a key role in developing Moira's aesthetic, using English socialite and designer Daphne Guinness as inspiration.
For Dan Levy, it was vital that the Rose family wear real designer clothes and not knock-offs. To achieve their extravagant looks on his limited budget, he scoured the internet for the best bargains.
You can find out more about the incredible process to creating these looks, and what it was like for the cast and crew to work on the final season, in the special Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A #SchittsCreek Farewell, now streaming.
