this is a common belief here in NZ but: it's not true. I know this thread is about the US but people here say this about ppl on govt benefits here all the time and it's not true! we earn so much less than ppl on minimum wage here. basically I'm side tracking the point of this thread op made because they're talking about the US and the fact they have shit pay, and I'm talking about NZ and just the sheer misinformation people are believing.
