I think it’s weird that people are upset about Jamaicans wanting to enjoy their spotlight without sharing it with the other Caribbean countries.

Like if Machel Montano was on verzuz with another artist from Trinidad, Jamaicans would not be tryna claim any shine off that.

On a macro level: Black people all over the world are influential. Everything that’s consider cool is cool because black people cosign. Period.
The Caribbean is full of amazingly talented folks.
Tonight we were highlighting Jamaica.

I see people saying “oh we’re just tryna support Jamaica and you guys are turning it into a war”

There’s nothing supportive about trying to dilute the shine Jamaica is receiving.

It’s like when the black lives matter gets blasted over by the “aLl LiVeS mAtTeR” talks. Stop it.

Jamaica has a lot of negative stereotypes and stigmas associated with the people, so sorry but not sorry for us wanting to bask in the glory of our culture when it’s being highlighted positively.
