Working Women i.e., those who are in paid employment, face problems at the workplace just by virtue of their being women.
Social attitude to the role of women lags much behind the law!
Women bankers are facing lot more challenges than their male counterparts!
This thread is to make people aware of the factors preventing women bankers from giving their all to the job! @Arya_Star12 @2019Seema @jyamubhutia @HumanUndisputed
✔️ Mental Harrasment: It is an age old convention that women are less capable & inefficient in working as compared to men. This results in the unnecessary pressure on the women! Also, since women are considered fragile, upper management keeps pressurizing for doing certain things
which they would not ask men to do!

✔️ Sexual Harrasment: Today, almost all working women are prone to sexual Harrasment irrespective of their status & personal characteristics. Almost all must have faced it, the intensity varying case to case! A few cases came in light too.
✔️ DISCRIMINATION AT WORK PLACE: Women still face blatant discrimination at work place especially in promotions! The percentage of women at top management is too low in each bank which is a result of this.
✔️NO SAFETY OF WOMEN WHILE TRAVELING: Women face safety issues while commuting from home to branch. The place of posting is too far which makes it difficult to stay & work till late as compared to the counterparts.
According to Guidelines & norms laid down by the SC in Vishaka and Others Vs. State of Rajasthan and Others(JT 1997(7)SC 384),If any female employee is being asked to work after 7PM then its the responsibility of the employer to provide travelling facility with full security.
✔️ LACK OF FAMILY SUPPORT: At times the family doesn't support women to leave the house & go to office specially after marriage. Many ladies have to choose between family or work.
✔️ INSUFFICIENT MATERNITY LEAVE/ CHILD CARE LEAVE: Maternity leaves of 6 months is given in bank & women bankers are supposed to join the branch while their little one's are not even 5 months old which forces many to go on sabbatical leave without pay.
As per 7th CPC CCL is granted to Central Govt women employees for a maximum period of two years (730 days) during their entire service for taking care of their minor children (up to eighteen years of age).
This facility available for single fathers too
but there is no CCL provision in banks even for the female employees.
Additional Child care leave is a must
. ✔️COMMON WASHROOM: While our PM was focusing on Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan, there are still branches where only one washroom is shared by men & women
which invades privacy of both. It is unhygienic too.
✔️WORK PLACE ADJUSTMENT: The main issue here is refusal of some men to accept women as colleagues or seniors. There is huge gender gap in banks resulting in one woman between 5 or 6 men in branches.
Not just that lack of solidarity among also raises a lot of inconvinience.

These are some of the issues women face on regular basis.
What is more important amidst this pandemic is that the management is forcing pregnant women,
lactating mothers to come to branch & not providing them work from home which puts them and their babies at tremendous risk of getting infected. Unions are also not coming forward to support. It is time to take control & fight for our rights.
