My grandfather (on the left) play fighting with his youngest brother Judah. My guess is that this was taken around 1940 or 41. Judah was drafted in 1942 (his freshman year at Penn State) and died of pneumonia during basic training in Alabama.
This photo was taken around the same time. On the left is my grandmother, on the right is my Aunt Shirley, and in the middle is my great-grandmother Honey.
This is Honey's husband, my great-grandfather, after whom my son is named. He ran a jewelry store in downtown Altoona, Pa.
This trip down family history lane reminded me of this thread I did back in 2018 on the connections and differences between my family's history and Steven Miller's. Both he and I descend from early 20th C Jewish immigrants to Cambria County, Pa. https://twitter.com/SethCotlar/status/1030502595826081793?s=20
