1. I don’t understand this column at all. Working in offices actually undermines ‘society’ for many - less time with family & friends. Less time for community activities. https://twitter.com/michaelkoziol/status/1264375012380643328
2. I work for a company that has no office ( @Quiip). We’re pretty good at remote working as have been doing it for 10 years. Unnecessary Zoom meetings are avoided. We get to know eachother at annual retreats and conferences.
3. The rest of the time we get on with our day without the distraction of the office and the colleagues we inevitably don’t like. No commute, so more time with partners and kids. Can support local businesses in my lunch hour, or on a coffee break. See my parents. Go to the gym.
4. There is nothing really ‘natural’ about the 9-5 workday. It works best for young professionals without caring responsibilities (both kids and aging parents) and people with ‘wives’ at home. The sooner we blow that system up, the better
5. Working from home my husband can coach a soccer team at 5pm without having to ‘negotiate’ an early leave pass. I have time for a jog after work and to still make dinner before everyone is starving. I see people plenty. Just not my colleagues, unless I need to.
6. Anyway, appreciate many like the office routine, but it is by no means the only or best way of working for many others.
