Our PM Mr. Modi has set an ambitious target of $5 trillion economy.

To achieve this goal, banker's role shall be of utmost importance.

But will the bankers, who unfortunately has lost their morale, take India to this summit?

You may ask why the bankers are demoralised?

Well there are mire than one answer to this question, but today we shall talk strictly to the problem of their wages only.

Before understanding this problem further, you must know one fact.

That a PSB clerk gets lesser salary than a govt peon, and a PSB officer gets lesser salary than a govt clerk.

Yes, you read it right. The same bank officer who once drew more salary than an IAS officer, now draws lesser salary than a govt clerk.

Now lets see, why this huge gap has been created.

Banker's wage is revised every five through the bipartite settlements. This settlement is done through negotiations.

IBA which is more like a club of bank CMDs, represents the bank managements.

And UFBU, which is umbrella body of bank unions represents bankers.

The last setllement i.e.11th bipartite settlement was due on 01 Nov 2017. But it has been #935Days since, but there is no sign of it till now.

I.e. more than 2.5 years.

Can you imagine 2.5 from 5 years getting wasted, just in anticipation?

Can you feel the pain of a worker, who should have been getting revised salary since 2.5 years, has no clue about it till now?

You think it is painful enough?
There is more.

In these negotiations, IBA could make any offer and UFBU have to agree or reject.

In the last settlements IBA made initial offer of 1%, and in this settlements IBA had made initial offer of 2%.

1 and 2% over the period of five whole years!!

There is no time limit within which these negotiations has to be settled, so IBA could linger on indefinitely.

Due to this delay, banks defer their liability to a future date, and earn interest on this liability.

Moreover many allowances are given from the date of settlement and hence bankers are deprived of these allowances for more than 2.5 years.

Apart from these, banks give loans to their employees for meeting out their expenses.

At last, banker end up paying interest on his own money.

Funny, isn't it?

Well funnier part is yet to come.

Now let us see the part of the UFBU and options before them.

UFBU could call strike. For strike, bankers have to lose their salary.

See the paradox. For demanding increase in your wages, you have to let go your wages.

It is a different fact that bank services are now classified as essential services and they are forbidden to go on strike.

Right of satyagrah is snatched in the country of Gandhi.! Irony just died a hundred deaths.

So UFBU have no teeth to pressurize the managements.

But UFBU also don't want an early settlement. You must be thinking I've gone mad.

But I'm not.

Since the settlements are done after their due dates, an arrear (without interest) has to be paid to employees. More the delay, more shall be the arrear.

Now the UFBU leaders demands 'levy' from union member, i.e. bank employees.

#YouFailedBankers

13/17
This levy varies from 2 to 4% of the arrear amount. This generates huge funds for the bank unions.

With this amount unions leaders gift themselves expensive luxuries like flats and cars.

Pop quiz:

Is it funny till now or turned tragic?

Both the parties sparring over banker's wage are benefitted from indefinite delay, and has to bear brunt of this.

You think you have known every possible sinister acts and strategy by which IBA and UFBU fool bankers?

You are again wrong.

After the last bipartite settlement, IBA had gifted flats to UFBU leaders. Why on earth, would IBA do that?

Specially when, the leaders of both IBA and UFBU criticize each other on all public platforms.

I can't say anything with certainty, but I smell foul play. That is why I say this whole process involving IBA,UFBU and negotiations stinks.

That is why every banker say to IBA and UFBU that #YouFailedBankers.

You've not just failed, but cheated us. Shame on you.
