I am bravely tweeting from under my covers because there’s a bat flying around my bedroom and @TimLaheyMD has been vaccinated for rabies and I have not.

We are losing.

3/please let this end soon
Back under the covers because @TimLaheyMD is waving a towel about to guide the poor bat out the window but it’s causing the bat to dive-bomb the bed. I really don’t want rabies shots in my butt.

4/?
This is a horror show. All tips entertaining but not helpful. Tennis rackets not available. Towel not working. Dogs freaked, cat salivating and frantically meowing threats at bat.

Looked like a promising opportunity but he took off again.
@TimLaheyMD thought one possible strategy would be to throw dog toys out the window in the hopes he’d think of it as a large mosquito but SHOCKER that did not work. Lots of dog toys in side yard.
The dog that’s afraid of bugs is panicked and hiding under the covers with me. At least Luther is vaccinated.
Why, you might ask, is my husband vaccinated? Bat flew into his face while he was walking the dog and knocked his glasses off. Neighbors called him Batman for longer than he appreciated.
Update:
STOP TELLING ME TO OPEN THE WINDOWS ALL WINDOWS ARE OPEN WITH SCREENS REMOVED.
Clarification: I’m not afraid of bats I’m afraid of going to the ED for my rabies shots.
We have gone quiet and still in the hopes he roosts again. Do bats roost or hang? Someone look it up for me.
There are now lots of bugs in the room and the least the bat could do is take care of a few of those for us while he’s here.
Status update: we took @mrsjjee’s advice and left the room with the windows open and lights out. Now, we wait.

@TimLaheyMD is a gentleman and a hero with all the best antibodies.
Wish I had an infectious diseases doc around to ask if incidental exposure to a bat with no evidence of a bite requires a rabies vaccine....oh, wait.
And yes, we had to re-watch while we wait:
Update pending: @TimLaheyMD is going to check on the bat.
And yes, I also know our light fixture in the bedroom is THE WORST. A large breast just dangling there in the middle of the ceiling. This evening’s ceiling viewing reminds me to get to replacing it ASAP.
He was resting. For another round of flapping about to elude is, as it turns out.
Cats are circling.
Well, we had it trapped in a box but it got out so we will be sleeping on the couch until tomorrow, when your useful Googling tells us he will he groggy and easier to catch.

Thanks for joining us in our evening’s excitement.

FIN.

(Yawn)
Whoops. We got all settled on the couch but we were missing The littlest member of the family...who we’d abandoned in the bedroom with the bat.

‘Night, Tweeps.
Update: @mrsjjee wins the day. The bat let himself out while we slept on the couch.
