1/ I was de-platformed by a research methods seminar after speaking out about proposed guidance on the sex question on the 2021 Census which suggests respondents can answer in terms of their identity where this clashes with their sex. https://twitter.com/SianGriffiths6/status/1264370472482942978">https://twitter.com/SianGriff...
2. I have just published a paper on the measurement of sex and gender identity in the International Journal of Research Methodology. Readers can judge for themselves whether hearing these views would have "risked harm" to audience members. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13645579.2020.1768346">https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/...
3/ It was a difficult decision to go public with the fact that I have been de-platformed. The accusation of anti-trans views used to justify this is an abhorrent smear. I hope that sharing the experience will allow lessons to be learned.
4/ "I hope that developing a better understanding of how this culture of silencing on gender issues works ...will help universities and research organisations to recognise what is going on and take a more robust approach to defending scientific prerogatives."
