"you should cut your hair," kageyama hissed, moving to grab a strand of hinata's hair. "you look like a bush."

"so rude," hinata commented as they walked out of the gym, kageyama on his tail.

he turned around to face who was now his former partner, smiling.
"thank you for the last three years," hinata whispered, knowing it was loud enough for kageyama to hear.

kageyama hummed. "when i ask you what you've been doing the last three years in brazil, you better have an answer."

"you're so weird," hinata chuckled. "you're not even
gonna say thank you back?"

kageyama huffed. "i don't have a reason to. you already know."

"gosh, bakageyama, what if i don't see you again?"
the question made kageyama stiffen, hinata noticing the way his shoulders tensed up. "what? we will."

hinata gave kageyama a small smile. "in case i never see you again—"
"hinata, what—"

"in case i never see you again," hinata repeated, as if kageyama didn't interrupt him in the first place. "i want you to know how much you mean to me."

"don't make this a goodbye," kageyama hissed. "we made this a 'see you later,' don't change that."
hinata scoffed. "fine, then. guess you'll never know."

kageyama rolled his eyes. "only because we'll see each other again soon, dumbass."

hinata smiled. "of course we will, kageyama-kun!"
and they would've, if kageyama knew hinata's flight for brazil crashed into the ocean the next day, all the passengers deemed missing.

kageyama regret that he didn't hear hinata's words, he regret not taking the chance to say his true feelings.
they'd never know the true extent of how much they meant to each other, and that hurt kageyama more than anything.

so, he'd win the olympics for hinata, hoping his true feelings reached hinata.
wherever he was, kageyama wished their "see you later" would come true, even if it was impossible.
