Ivy League urban planners are out here saying there’s no critique of covert racism in city making while those of us BIPOC living in cities have been talking about it forever. It’s that they dont listen because our lives don’t serve the interest of trad urban planning demographics
What I love about these “outsider” critiques is that they come in the form of art and poetry, not just as formal papers. But those are only “recognized” by those in the academy when the academy has something to gain
I’m sorry to say this but maybe the folks critiquing the garbage “trad” architecture accounts should stop and think about what their own “trad” training has instilled within themselves
Sorry I’m mad but I’m on a campaign to make urban planning not just a degree you get at Harvard but also something that everyday people do! Urban planning is a gut reaction! An act of rage! An emotional connection!
