Anyway.

Yes, my ancestors found solace in Christianity. BUT THEY NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAD TO. This religion was forced down my ancestors’ throats and some of them developed a taste for it. Please stop acting like this was somehow a good thing. It was spiritual abuse.

And this isn’t just about evangelicalism. The Great Awakening was led by slavers, centuries before modern evangelicalism came on the scene. Colonies killed people over doctrine. The Atlantic slave trade was sanctioned by the church. Martin Luther was a raging antisemite.

Europe went to war more times than we have time to discuss over which version of Christianity was best.

So yeah. I’ll say it. Christianity is shit.

Christianity that brought my ancestors comfort while they starved next door to a mansion full of food IS A SHITTY RELIGION.
