My favorite part of today was telling everyone on the Not Another Race Panel about the origin story of how Anakin Skywalker came to exist, which was hidden in half a sentence in a block of exposition in the Star Wars book "Darth Plagueis" which WAS canon.

Welp, Anakin didn't "just" pop into existence. Shmi got pregnant when Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious were experimenting with the Force and they did it accidentally. yes, I'm serious.

Only during the events of The Phantom Menace does Sidious/Palpatine realize that Anakin exists and that he must have been the result of their experimenting. Why didn't he and Plagueis know about him?

That, I believe, is the official answer.

So Anakin was not Jesus, he was created by Sith Lords exploring the boundaries of the dark side of the Force & messing around in a lab while simultaneously attempting to conquer the galaxy through the manipulation of trade routes.

That's some Joseph Campbell shit right there.
