1992-94: Mary was managed by Diddy, and they were inseparable. Kim was Biggie’s girlfriend.

Biggie married Faith, so Kim was feeling isolated. Diddy began putting all his energy into basically making Faith and Total into new Mary J Bliges (in Mary’s opinion) so now Mary was also isolated.

When Diddy left Uptown to start Bad Boy, his and Mary’s relationship changed.

Btw I’m in no way saying they became friends because of a mutual dislike for Faith or Total or Diddy or anybody lmao It wasn’t like that.

Lil Kim struggled to make friends in the industry due to her image (and Biggie literally not allowing her to), but one friend Kim eventually made was Mary around 1995. Mary became a big sister to her (and Missy) who were new in the industry

1997 comes and Kim leans on Mary when Biggie is killed. Mary consoling Kim has become one of the most famous and sad moments in the culture.

Now it goes downhill. Around 2001, Mary met Kendu Isaacs. Immediately her friends didn’t like him and Kim kept it real with her and said he was trying to control her. Mary declared she had no true friends at all.

Crazy how Wendy was living for the relationship and her man ended up being just like Kendu.

When describing the end of the friendship, Mary hinted that she thinks Kim’s real issue with her was not Kendu, but it was misplaced anger about her own surgery (?)
