✨ THREAD ABOUT MY THOUGHTS✨ #bloodandwaternetflix
Disclaimer: I'm just sharing my thoughts as a normal viewer, these are my opinions, yours can differ

This is how i structured this

1.Characters ( I don't mention everyone though)
2. Everything I didn't love
3. Everything I loved
Firstly I just want to say as a Cape Townian, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE WAY CAPE TOWN WAS POTRAYED . Cape is a beautiful city and we rarely see it on screen πŸ’›. More on this later though. Let's speak about the Characters and what I thought about them
1. Puleng
She's the main character, smart and driven. She is mostly chilled but she will give you a piece of her mind if you mess with her. She has a good balance. Ama Qamata is an excellent actor,I was suprised to see ba it was her 1st time on screen. I want to see more of her😍
2.Fikile
Loved her ! She is 'perfect' but not really. I loved that they showed both sides ngoba no one can really be perfect. Sure dating your coach is taking it a bit far but you get what i meanπŸ˜‚. She puts a lot of pressure on herself for no reason.
3. Wade
Brings in lot's of needed comic reliefπŸ˜‚although I did find his humour a but dry at times. He is a 'good' guys. A conversation that needs to be had on another day is that Puleng doesn't owe him a relationship simply because he helped her. He was being a good friend.
4. KB
Love interest ka Puleng. He's a typical Cape Town boy, especially his style. He's rich but still humble. Loved the relationship between yena no tata wakhe. He is a good friend and he treats Puleng really well but he also cheated on her with their friend so...
5. Chris
He's really open about his sexuality and I'm really glad this show had a lot of LGBTQ representation. I want more about him though because it seemed like anytime he was on screen it had to do with his sexuality/relationships.
6.Wendy
I hate how they made her character so annoying because now it makes us dismiss all the facts that she spits ! She is manipulative and always scheming yho😭. The whole with the beret was a bit ridiculous though. I need her to leave other people alone and focus on herself.
7. Reece
Bad girl don't care attitude! She was interesting. Always has something to say. She checks everyoneπŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜. One of my faves. I feel like she could've been even colder and snarkier.
THINGS I DID NOT LIKE

The acting could have been much better. It was mostly okay but sometime the show was giving High School play vibes πŸ’€. Especially Chad and Puleng's das yhoo😭. The kids really had this show on their shoulders in terms of acting
I would have appreciated more screen time in Zulu /Xhosa and I was hoping for some Afrikaans. I needed more. I hope you Cape Townians peeped the inclusion of thingamajigi πŸ˜‚
This is an international show, the attention to detail wasn't it ! I watched with subtitles and sometimes they would label Xhosa as Zulu and vice versa. They put 'tata' as 'dada' . They also misspelled 'bhele' in a sceneπŸ’€
Sometimes the writing was clunky and there were lots of clichΓ©s but I'm nitpicking, it really was not that bad .
THINGS I LOVED

NEW FACES.
South African shows tend to have the same people over and over again so it was really exciting to see some brand new faces. I was so happy you guys.πŸ˜‚. Lot's of potential too. @NetflixSA did a great job on casting.
The representation of Cape Town (South Africa) and Africa as an extension was great😍 We all know ba Africa is always viewed in the same light and sure those places exist in Africa and we are not ashamed of them but they must not be the only places we see in the media.
Africa is so big and diverse and all sides of it deserve to be shown. Cape Town is a beautiful city and they way it was show just made it seem more beautiful. We love to see it πŸ’•
Eventhought the main storyline is Puleng trying to find her sister, thw other things in the show were more interesting and at times I even forgot ba we are still looking for Puleng's sisterπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. All the subplots were interesting in #bloodandwaternetflix
THE MUSIC😍😍😍😍
They gave us Youngsta , they gave us Nasty C , Sho Madjozi, etc. IT WAS AMAZING. I was jamming the whole time.
I know this was technically a negative but there I was actually impressed by the acting and I know how hard acting is ( believe me ) , especially realism. Most of these actor's were on screen for the first time and they were able to hold it down! I was thoroughly impressed.
Conclusion: #bloodandwaternetflix

At first I couldn't see why everyone was hyping this show but I continues watching out of loyalty for my country and I'm glad I did! It did get better. The last two episodes saved the whole thing for me. The material was there!
#bloodandwaternetflix is a great step in South Africa's history of shows and I would honestly recommend this show to anyone πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦It's great . I'm excited for season 2 . Proud to be South African πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦
There's a whole lot more to unpack about this show but I wanted to keep this thread brief and simple. Also ndidiniwe kutype(a) yho
