Sevan Becakci jewels, he's a native to Istanbul. He is proud of his home town and puts it into his jewelry. There is Arabic calligraphy and symbolism. Anyone having a problem with it, block me and go away.

Right. He also has a sense of humor.
Damn it, #JewelWatch Sevan Becakci.

He specializes in rings, but the other things are amazing, too. Each piece is unique, and he goes for an interesting antique look, like mimicking the silver-set diamonds I've talked about, and darkened metals.
His biggest specialty, though, is painted intaglio.

Intaglio is ancient. Kind of the opposite of cameo; instead of a flat surface with the shape rising from it, it's a flat stone with the shapes carved into the surface.

Often on the top,
(Uh, that's not one of his, that's ancient Roman or an example of ancient Roman.)

Sometimes, with a clear stone, they get crazy and carve in FROM THE UNDERSIDE. Then in Bicakci's case, you PAINT IT.
The most common used stone for this kind of intaglio is clear quartz, but any clear gem will do. I believe most of his are quartz of different colors.

Occasionally he throws in some micro-mosaic for fun. I LOVE how the surface of the main stone is rippled like water.
This is a miniature rendition of the Blue Mosque. (Which architecturally is one of my favorite buildings.)

(Looks like shared-prong settings for the stones in the collar and the main stone is bezel set with milgrain to show off. YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT I SAID! HELLO JEWELRY NERD!)
Other architecture is done. I think those side stones look so shiny because they're backed with un-darkened gold.
Someone who's been to Istanbul can identify the building for me, but see the painted scenes from the city?

This is medieval-to-Renaissance jewelry, done with modern tech.
Oh, butterflies. So lovely. Eat your hearts out, Medicis.
Another mosque possibly?

I believe in Islam, turquoise is the color of heaven. (ANYONE ISLAMIC JUMP IN AND CORRECT ME AND ADD ANY DETAILS YOU LIKE.)
Jesus for the Christians.

He really is honoring the history of the city.
I'm still boggling over how he makes them look antique.

Yay, found the necklaces. Normally this stuff isn't to my taste (Y'all know I go for modern stuff) but the sheer skill is leaving me admiring it.
Looks like parrots?

It's a hell of a way to get high value out of rock crystal.
The light shining through the earrings in the middle. So skilled.
Miniature paintings of the city, probably done in enamel, set in what's probably black and white diamonds.
I love how he tucks in small details so you KNOW it's modern like the black gemstones above.

Or the micro-mosaic here. Could you do that without modern magnification? And what's the main stone? Hurricane? Swan? Hurricane of swans?
He does watches, I like how he echoes the diamonds on the outside edge, on the face.

Wonder if he salvages old cut diamonds, or if he makes someone cut them for him? Some of those are really irregular cuts. (The not quite triangular, at seven o'clock.)
Here's Whoopi wearing his bracelets on both wrists, there's a closeup of the octopod in the upper corner but nothing on the other. I'll post closeups if I can find them.
And here's Whoopi at the '19 Oscars looking fabulous, because it's my thread and I do what I want,
Or have the whole dang city, holy carp.
And for an idea of prices, this one's going for ten grand, which is both reasonable for the skill involved and impressive, for the skill involved.

It's a ring. I want a matching bar brooch.
Earrings. Central stones carved with birds and set to let the light shine in. They never could have done it in the Renaissance with available tech but it sure looks like they did. Sorry for the blur.
Damn I wish these pics were better, because two-finger ring FISHIE!

I think the scales are intaglio. Boggling.
Owls?
Baroque pearls, that are probably real/not cultured.
Yes please.

Most of this is not to my taste, but I'd wear the hell out of this.
Whoopi's octopod. That almost has to be a wild, not cultured, worth a fortune baroque pearl.
Damn, some of these photos.

There's a possibly abstract pendant, there, and on the right are cuff links.
No, looks like another parrot in that pendant. The beak, I thought was reflected light.

Possibly a carved moonstone, and I wonder if the silvery stones in the ring itself are diamond cabochons. They'd look about like that. If they are, gaze in wonder.
Another bracelet, would love to know what the orange stones are so I can covet them properly.
Garnets??
Super closeup of a cut stone setting, so you can see his work up close. Those green stripes are probably enamel.
Cherub cufflinks.

We don't see enough men's jewelry around here.
Pendant. They're all different, with different feels, all the time. Amazing. I keep looking for more, and I don't even like this kind of jewelry, normally.
One of my all time favorites, of his rings.
Slightly better photo here, so you can see the freaking swordfish and not just the goldfish.
Seahorse.
Leather cuff.
Watch. (Look closely at the central whatever it is, you'll see the hands.)

Good lord.

And I still don't know how I feel about the fake silver settings.
Another leather cuff. With freaking diamonds on it.
And let's end on a high note with this mosaic ring.

There you go. A Turkish jeweler, glad I'm finally finding international people instead of the same old stuff.

I want this ring.
