One subtle anti-mask theme I've seen pop up is the "I did everything right and got Covid-19 anyway"-- implying there's no point in following the rules.

To me this is like the spouse who says they never have sex with anyone but their partner but still somehow caught an STD. To me it just begs the question-- maybe the failure isn't *you* following the rules, maybe the failure is someone else who didn't.

If everyone follows the rules, everyone's safer. If one person follows the rules and somebody else doesn't, neither is safer.

The biggest problem now is a lot of people seem fine with acting like the other partner in that STD example.
