watching BATMAN BEGINS for the first time in a good while. first thought: the first 20 minutes of this movie is very effective. Well-paced, well-edited, tells you a lot about the character and his world without boring you with too much exposition.

second thought: Ken Watanabe is completely wasted and it still makes me mad!

third thought: of all the times Martha Wayne has been killed on screen this is probably the least gross depiction.

I still don’t know how I feel about Katie Holmes’ performance in this movie.

liam neeson on the other hand, is terrific. a top tier villain performance imho.

alot of movies have tried to mimic the serious, “dark” tone of the Nolan Batman films but they all miss the fact that these movies are also kind of funny. they have jokes!
