You know what, let me share it. Sit back and relax. This is ONLY theory, not fact. Please do not accuse me of pushing an unfounded conspiracy or try to correct every detail.

Ok, I think there's multiple versions of this movie. I wanna say there's 3.

Let me explain. https://twitter.com/HouseOfDameron/status/1264344660148879360
When I say 3 versions, I don't mean there's 3 completed cuts of this movie. What I mean is this movie had stages.

I doubt there's a freshly baked "J.J Cut" at Lucasfilm, but there's definitely more to this movie than what we got and what we've heard.

This is not uncommon.
Reshoots are fairly normal, but I believe the reshoots were extensive, mainly for the first act and a portion of the ending. I also fully believe the rumors of the movie having 6+ endings.

A lot of statements in interviews paint a picture of a movie we did not see.
Things that we have heard from filmmakers include: Finn's backstory, the origin of the First Order, scenes with Rose & Leia, "Funny scenes" with Rey and Kylo Ren, the original prologue.

Things rumored: Action scenes with Zorii, a Force flash fight, Matt Smith, romance.
This is where I start the sound crazy. You notice how Rey never calls Palpatine "Grandfather"? Plus Daisy saying Rey's not related to anyone special?

I think there were multiple arcs happening concurrently and the final film are the arcs spliced together.
I know Pablo said they didn't tweak the third act much, but I kinda doubt it. The third act seems like it has stuff missing and I doubt Ben's death was something planned from the start of J.J.'s involvement

To me, the biggest tell of a longer version of this movie is the music.
Star Wars movies that were originally longer have the most awkward music editing; The Prequels, The Force Awakens, etc.

John Williams has revealed they were constantly changing stuff during production and that he scored up to 3 hours worth of music, the most he's ever done.
The soundtrack album has tracks that are no where to be found in the film. This is normal yes, but there's more than usual. For example, the opening music on the album is not the same as it is in the movie. I feel like the album opening was for the extended Mustafar sequence.
Another tinfoil hat theory, but notice how most of the new themes don't play under anything specific, save for the Trio Theme?

"The Rise of Skywalker" kinda plays wherever, Anthem of Evil is only used once, and The Speeder Chase is cut entirely. I feel like something was up.
There's is more footage, more storylines, and completely different versions of scenes out there. More than the average amount. I don't believe in the slightest that TROS "Is J.J.'s full vision". Nonsense.

Say what you will about J.J.'s movies, but at least they're coherent.
It all goes back to the time crunch. I believe the theatrical cut is the version they decided to go with because the release date was approaching fast. They wrote and filmed multiple versions of the same scenes and decided to put them together and hope it worked.
The Force Awakens was reshuffled and redone until the 11th hour too, and J.J. even admitted they changed that more than TROS. There was a set vision from the get go. J.J. and co. knew EXACTLY what kind of movie TFA was going to be.

I don't think they did this time.
J.J. talked about how they let him do what wanted more and how he was going to take more risks. Where was that? Add this with Chris Terrio and Michelle Rejwan's comments about figuring out the ending and this paints a picture of a clash of visions. It's not solely J.J's doing.
I think J.J. wanted to make something grand and epic, something more bold. I think that's why he chose Terrio, because Terrio thinks like that as well. But I think Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, and the studio wanted something else. I think this caused problems.
J.J. has said in interviews that he hates being micromanaged and being rushed. This is why he's not fond of Star Trek Into Darkness. And it's very telling that he hasn't talked about TROS since it's released.

I don't think J.J. likes the movie either.
The short production schedule didn't do it any favors. I think TROS suffered from a lack of unity and a clash of voices. Just like Rogue One, only worse.

This is a movie that had multiple people with ideas and not enough times to make the ideas come to life.
There's definitely more footage, more story, and a different ending out there. It may not be done, but I think it exists.

There's footage with more Finn, more Rose, Matt Smith, and definitely more Kylo Ren.

The final product is just a fraction of what this movie was.
If Disney & Lucasfilm look at the reaction to the movie and and at what Warner Bros is doing with the Snyder Cut, they need need to stop trying to hide everything and release an extended/alternate/director's cut of TROS.

"The director's cut is the theatrical cut" my foot.
There is more to this movie than we have seen. The final chapter of the Skywalker Saga deserves more than people like me constantly wondering about the what ifs of it all.

I don't NEED Jedi Finn and Reylo babies, I want the complete story. And I hope one day I can see it.
