@Wardah_abbas salam sis. Check out the replies under this tweet. Remember when you tweeted that Islam in theory is different from Islam in practice. I almost developed a contrary opinion and I wanted to support it with Hadith and Quran, but then I decided to perform a little... https://twitter.com/BifolaX/status/1264256189510168577
...experiment and determine if truly Islam theoretically is not entirely Islam in practice. This is where I'm going with this:
If truly unanimously we all agree that having anything to do with Alcohol is haram. Why do states generally perceived as "shariah states" share out...
...of the proceeds in form of IGR, VAT, other taxes etc that come from alcohol production, sales and distribution? The proceed is a lot in billions and part of the FAAC shared by all states in Nigeria.
Theory doesn't equate practical when it comes to practicing Islam generally!
Again Tawhid, Fiqh, tafsir and nahw is not enough to practise Islam. We need to start pushing for Islamic Banking and Finance, Islamic history and psychology, Islamic Diplomatic and International Relations, Islamic Economy, Islamic polity and governance, Islamic Philosophy etc.
One thing critical I left out is Islamic equity and gender discrimination studies. These are the contemporary issues in the world. Issues like "how to perform tayammum" have already been solved and documented, we should dwell so much on existing knowledge. We should innovate!
But some people will come and say I'm radical and I'm in support of innovation. I'm in support of anything that will illuminate the minds of Muslims, put Islam and Muslims at the forefront. Unity must be attained. Dogmatism and barbarism must be removed from Islam. In sha Allah.
