Two weeks ago, I entertained the thought of leaving social media as a physician forever. I felt invisible and ignored. I have used my voice to do what I can to elevate #BlackWomenInMedicine and the specialty of #Pathology as well as the injustices I saw against people like me.
I realize that this is not about fame or followers (it never was for me). This platform is bigger than me. I'm not invisible to those who need me the most. I am not invisible to those who need to see me the most #BlackWomen #BlackMen #BlackBoys #BlackGirls
I'm here to say that you are good enough. You are strong enough. You are smart enough. The world may choose to not see you, but I SEE YOU. I see the potential others refuse to see. I see the beauty others refuse to celebrate.
And so I will stay. Not for me, but for every person who needs to see that they can make it. You can live your dream. I’ll be sitting here, quietly, cheering you on.
To everyone who reached out, thank you. Thank you for your concern, and for your support. To everyone who followed in support, thank you as well. We'll grow together and try to do the right thing! #BlackWomenInMedicine #ILookLikeAPathologist #IAmAPathologist
