Fast-forward to today, May 23, 2020, when Tanden announced that she has contracted the novel Coronavirus, in a short thread detailing her efforts to avoid infection and the symptoms she was experiencing. 3/
Tanden is well-known and well-loved in liberal circles, not just for her work but for her able and passionate defenses of liberal positions on social media. So her mentions were full of people wishing her well, but also... the left. 4/
Scattered throughout her mentions from this morning are a tranche of some of the most shocking, inhuman, soulless, ghoulish hot takes I& #39;ve ever seen. What follows is a selection of, and commentary on, the left& #39;s apotheosis. 5/

The most common reaction from the dirtbag left was sheer joy and near disbelief at what they saw as their "good fortune". 7/

Beyond the snark and triumphant cheering, though, there were a few who apparently fancy themselves intellectuals, who wasted no time making the case that their differences with her on policy meant she deserved it somehow. 16/

Even more common was the score-settling. Tanden had the temerity to urge people to vote in Wisconsin, where large-scale absentee balloting was prevented by the GOP. This is, apparently, a grave sin. Or something. 18/
Then there were those who didn& #39;t really have a point to make, they just wanted to tear strips off of someone facing Coronavirus because apparently, it& #39;s just what they do. 20/
We had a fair bit of what apparently passes for biting sarcasm on the left. This is also a Very Good Look. 21/
A few of them also took the time and effort to come after me for calling them out on their behavior. How thoughtful. 22/
At least one Bernieworld account tried to display some humanity, only to run headlong into probably the clearest example of what& #39;s wrong with these people. 23/
Once the news flowed into all the cracks and under all the logs that make up the online sewer that is the left, the toxicity really began to flow. 24/

You also might ask what I want to see happen now. What& #39;s my goal for surfacing all this toxic behavior. Well, there is something I& #39;d like to see, I won& #39;t lie. 29/
I want everyone to see this, and to know what the left is and what it really stands for. I want everyone to really internalize this, and to make smart choices with their donations and votes. 30/
I want people to understand that there is a political faction out here right now, today, that has decided its ideology is more important than anyone& #39;s humanity or well-being. That they will happily see us dead to get what they want. 31/
And most importantly, I want the outraged response to be loud enough and inescapable enough to send these complete cretins back into their caves, permanently. Let this be an end to the toxic left forever. 32/
