THREAD: At £37m, Dembele would be worth the risk and arguably better business than splashing out on Sancho or Havertz.

Undoubtedly, Dembele has a worrying injury record. Yet, he’s one of the most two footed players I’ve ever seen. His potential and talent is unrivalled. https://twitter.com/mailsport/status/1264235900642430976
In reality, Chelsea typically play roughly 50 games per season. That’s 100 games for two winger positions.

For example:

Ziyech 40 games
Pulisic 30 games
Hudson-Odoi 30 games

You could even argue, 3 wingers can comfortably cover 2 positions over a season.
But Chelsea have been linked with another winger given the impending departures of Pedro & Willian, not to mention the loss of Hazard last season.

So if we’re signing a fourth choice winger, we don’t need to splash out on Sancho or Havertz given our need to improve other areas.
This is where Dembele, a player who has the potential to be in the same bracket as Sancho, would be an outstanding signing for just £37m to be our fourth choice winger.

This, of course, assumes that Lampard favours Pulisic and/or Hudson-Odoi as his wingers.
Dembele is a low risk high reward signing. It would be incredible business and a potential world class acquisition for someone that Barcelona once believed to be there Neymar replacement. Sometimes moves simply don’t work out, and a new club is the solution for these players.
Salah is a prime example. As is Gnabry. Even Robben at Madrid, to an extent.

Dembele is worth the risk at £37m, if the reports are true. If it doesn’t work out, which it certainly couldn’t, when the world economy picks back up we could sell him for the same amount (if not more).
