“But why didn’t she report it?” “Not ALL men are trash.” Utah police officer showed off explicit photos of Lauren McCluskey to his co-worker the day before she was killed by the man blackmailing her. Men who are ‘NOT TRASH’, what’s your plan to stop this? https://www.sltrib.com/news/education/2020/05/17/university-utah-police/
Women can’t stop men who want to harm them. If we could, this wouldn’t be an ongoing problem. The only people who can stop gender-based violence is men. And if men want to claim ‘not all men’, fine, but know ALL WOMEN are affected. So by saying that, you’re letting it happen.
By standing by, making it about how YOU are not a trash guy, instead of actively mobilizing against predatory men, you are telling women your ego / reputation is more important to you than the centuries of violence, rape, victim-blaming and trauma we’ve faced, and still do.
Women don’t report rape and sexual violence because we KNOW MEN. We know that beneath that ‘good guy’ facade is probably the creep who forwards the blackmail revenge porn to his cop friends. We know we’ll be accused of ‘asking for it’ because men know other men won’t stop them.
Until men call out men for gender-based violence, creep behavior, misogyny, not respecting consent, rape, treating women as if they exist for male pleasure and entertainment, debasing them through speech, not paying them enough, then ALL MEN ARE TRASH.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” John Stuart Mill
I will add to this thread by a question thrown in my face by a woman last night: “How do I know HE isn’t the victim?”

We live in a culture that allows victim-blaming bc of the great elephant in the room that must be named: Money. People protect perps to line their pockets.
So Ja. Women are just as trash and complicit in standing by, retraumatizing victims and victim-blaming too.
