The thread you never knew you needed in your life - the weird and wonderful world of #Glenrothes's roundabouts. 👇
First up it could only be #Caskieberran Roundabout, home of 'Rexie', the town dinosaur (your town doesn't have one?) and who is now Glenrothes's unofficial advocate for wearing a face mask during the #coronavirus pandemic.
Next up it's #Queensway Roundabout in the town centre, which feature the town's animal, the Hippo, which are scattered around the town.

In the '70s, artists Stanley Bonnar created the first group of hippos, and David Harding made more, including these two.
🎥 "I didn't know hippos in Scotland would be a big deal!"

An interview I did with @FifeFlyers' American ice hockey player @theMdot50 in 2014 when a local school decorated a hippo in his likeness for the annual #Glenrothes Hippo Parade competition.

Next it's #Leslie Roundabout with the eye catching giant irises beside it.

First displayed at the #Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988, where it won 'the most amusing artefact award', they were moved to their current site in 1989 and have been used in the town's logos ever since.
At #ChurchStreet Roundabout, a flamingo, a duck and a duck-sized swan are just hanging out because why wouldn't they?
The 'Twa Heids' sculpture at #Glenwood Roundabout which I couldn't find an explanation for...
#Tanshall Roundabout has mushrooms sculpted in the 70s, which were created by the town artist to play with ideas of scale, similar to the irises created a few years later.
And finally, #Warout Roundabout, is where local people have chosen to thank NHS staff, carers, other key workers and volunteers for keeping the town going through the lockdown and pandemic. đź‘Ź
