The thread you never knew you needed in your life - the weird and wonderful world of #Glenrothes& #39;s roundabouts.

First up it could only be #Caskieberran Roundabout, home of & #39;Rexie& #39;, the town dinosaur (your town doesn& #39;t have one?) and who is now Glenrothes& #39;s unofficial advocate for wearing a face mask during the #coronavirus pandemic.
Rexie, who was sculpted by town artist Malcolm Robertson in 1980, has recovered from not one but two car collisions, most recently in December 2018 (the driver wasn& #39;t injured thankfully).
Locals sometimes dress Rexie up at different times of the year. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/local/fife/793317/tyrannosaurus-wrecked-beloved-glenrothes-dinosaur-a-goner-after-crash/">https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/l...

Next up it& #39;s #Queensway Roundabout in the town centre, which feature the town& #39;s animal, the Hippo, which are scattered around the town.
In the & #39;70s, artists Stanley Bonnar created the first group of hippos, and David Harding made more, including these two.

An interview I did with @FifeFlyers& #39; American ice hockey player @theMdot50 in 2014 when a local school decorated a hippo in his likeness for the annual #Glenrothes Hippo Parade competition.
Next it& #39;s #Leslie Roundabout with the eye catching giant irises beside it.
First displayed at the #Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988, where it won & #39;the most amusing artefact award& #39;, they were moved to their current site in 1989 and have been used in the town& #39;s logos ever since.

At #ChurchStreet Roundabout, a flamingo, a duck and a duck-sized swan are just hanging out because why wouldn& #39;t they?
The & #39;Twa Heids& #39; sculpture at #Glenwood Roundabout which I couldn& #39;t find an explanation for...
#Tanshall Roundabout has mushrooms sculpted in the 70s, which were created by the town artist to play with ideas of scale, similar to the irises created a few years later.
And finally, #Warout Roundabout, is where local people have chosen to thank NHS staff, carers, other key workers and volunteers for keeping the town going through the lockdown and pandemic.
