#Signal has a different way of making things unpredictable compared to other crime/thriller dramas - a thread
1) the concept of an unsolved case being investigated between two timelines is already unpredictable. we're not sure if the case will be solved in 2015 or in 1989 or if the case will be solved at all.
2) the episode structure of signal makes it unpredictable as well. usually, procedural dramas have a strucuture in one ep (in this order: intro of the case, finding the culprit, reveal). in signal, they made it different by not solving the case at the end of the ep...
...and making it overlap with the next one or two episodes which makes us keep on the edge of our seats as we're not sure when or how the case will be solved
3) signal makes us see the flaws of the three lead characters. at least for me, it always made me wondered if their flaws would get in the way of their decision-making. the drama does not make them see the red herrings immediately. there was always a process that they...
...follow when solving the case and the viewers are with them in going through this process. the surprise we experience when finding out more abt the case is the same as the detectives are going through
this thread may not make sense (as I made this at 6:30 in the morning with zero sleep) but I just want to express how fascinated and in love I am with this drama ❀ ok will try to sleep now good night can't wait for season 2 of signal 😊
