Back in 2009 our company became part of DIRECTV, and one of the coolest things that came from that was the people who ran the DIRECTV Blimp offered to fly over games that we produced. They only flew in the East, but we usually got them for one Mariners series a year. 2/
I developed a good relationship with the manager, and eventually he helped me get in touch with the folks who ran the Goodyear Blimp in California. I saw we had had a midweek game coming up against Chivas USA in May of 2014, so I asked. To my surprise, they said yes! 3/
I honestly didn& #39;t believe it would happen until it did, but about an hour before the game, sure enough, the Goodyear rep showed up in the truck and shortly thereafter, the picture appeared on our monitor wall. 4/
For that game, Keith Bleyer and @RossSmith_20 were joined in the booth by our old friend Robbie Earle. Also, Fanendo Adi was to make his debut. I didn& #39;t want to overuse the blimp, but it was so cool! 5/
It turned out that the game was one of the lowest attended MLS matches in history. But BLIMP. It was so fun. We had the blimp shoot some game action... and Robbie even telestrated a play from it at halftime: 6/
