Here is a list of reasons why I like Discord more than Slack (no particular order):

- "Mark As Read" to an entire server
- Clear visibility of who is admin or not (if the Admins want)
- The ability to see sub-roles
- Can jump into a group voice chat that's always there
- Can do group video as well
- Can live stream to the entire discord, multiple people can live stream in the same discord
- Nitro users can carry emojis from one server to the next.
- Very little onboarding friction (can be an easy one-click URL)
- Ability to search for discord servers, everything in Slack is like..silo'd out
- Actually performant
- Free, with perks if community members want to "boost" server
- Can add friends from different servers, easier to stay in touch
The only thing I want so so so badly is threaded discussions. With growing communities, not having the ability to thread makes you feel like you're polluting the chat.
