Why the Chicago Bears won the Khalil Mack trade:
Khalil Mack’s time as a Chicago Bear has been nothing but awesome, he has produced very well with 21 sacks, 11 FFs, 18 TFLs, & 77 TKLs in two years. He elevated the players around him with Akiem Hicks, Eddie Jackson, and Kyle Fuller all having careers highs with him on the field.
What we gave up for Khalil Mack is absolute reasonable...
-two 1st round picks (2019 & 2020)
-3rd round pick (2020)
-6th round pick (2019)

Bears got in return...
-Khalil Mack
-2nd round pick (2020)
-7th round pick (2020)
Raiders got out of these picks:
Josh Jacobs (2019 1st round), Damon Arnette (2020 1st round), Bryan Edwards (2020 3rd round)
Bears got out of these picks:
Cole Kmet (2020 2nd round) & Arlington Hambright (2020 7th round)
Jacobs was arguably the rookie of the year last year, had great production with 1,300 yards in total on 262 touches and 7 TDs in 13 games, obviously a great pick but if you look at the future, Josh Jacobs will cost A LOT if he keeps this production going into 2024.
Jon Gruden has been known to not pay his big time players and obviously a very replaceable position, could see some problems there in the future.
Arnette is a tough one to grade because he obviously hasn’t played a snap yet but I could say this. This was a REACH, Arnette was graded as a high 2nd/3rd round pick and the raiders took him at 19 and he wasn’t even the best corner on his team, curious to see how this turns out.
Edwards pick was a confusing pick because they took 2 WRs already at the moment he was drafted with Ruggs and Bowden. They took a WR #4 in my eyes behind Williams, Ruggs, & Renfrow, definitely a pick I want to see how it turns out because it doesn’t look good so far for them.
Kmet was a good pick with not so good value, I feel like if you took Johnson first and then took Kmet, I would of liked this better. Fills a huge need but makes you question the point of giving Graham all that money. Good blocker/receiver & was the #1 TE in the draft so we’ll see
Hambright is a 7th round pick offensive lineman who is more of a project lineman, still a decent/good for the 7th round.
So overall for the draft part, Raiders got a great RB in Jacobs but we’ll see if his production continues, a first round pick on a very replaceable position. Not good value picks with Arnette and Edwards so we’ll see.
Bears got the future for their TE position hopefully, Kmet checks all the boxes for what you want in a TE. Also got a sneaky project OL in the 7th to develop and might be a possible starter.
Cap space:
So I looked at the Raiders 2020 roster and the money each player is making. So I found that if you take Nassib, Witten, and Joyners contract, that about adds up to what Mack’s contract is. You would rather have those all those guys over Mack?
“Oh but Mack was being greedy” If you were a Top 5 pick who won a defensive player of the year, Two All-Pros, and 40.5 sacks in 4 years, I would want 23 million per year too.
Mack’s impact:
So I found these clips of Patrick Mahomes and Melvin Gordon (WHO ARE ALL IN YOUR DIVISION) saying how grateful they are that Mack isn’t in the division anymore. Mack puts a scare factor into players and gives a frightening factor to your defense.
2019:
Mack’s 2019 wasn’t his best year, AT ALL. It’s tough when you’re being double/triple teamed all the time and no one around you can help. Hicks being gone for 11 games last year did not help and the former 1st round pick in 2016 Leonard Floyd production has been terrible.
Mack with all that happening still had 30 QB hurries (#2 in the NFL), 45 pressures (#8 in the NFL), 5 forced fumbles (#4 in the NFL), & has the 12th highest pass-rushing win rate.
Building on 2020:
Floyd has finally been put out of Chicago after his production has been horrible, Quinn is his replacement who had 11 sacks last year with the Cowboys and finally gets a healthy Akiem Hicks back.
Mack finally gets his healthy teammates back with R. Smith & D. Trevathan and also with new guys such as Jaylon Johnson and Tashuan Gipson.
