Working remotely is not going to get people out of cities.
Why?
1. Access. The more remote you are the less access and I frasrruxture you have. If your WiFi goes down what are you going to do?
2. You want to be close to physical services even if you are remote for m work.
3. In a city you can find new work by physical connections even without WiFi.
4. If you lose access to platforms in a remote location you have no physical way to replace those you are even more vulnerable to dictates digital platforms not less.
5. Having to travel to get essential services doesn't make you more self reliant, it makes you more vulnerable because you cannot provide those essential services. Fix your car? Your computer? Your electricity? You are not trained to be a terraformer.
6. This illusion will be sold so people embrace the joy of remote work when the reality is that it involves secondary travel as well as a precarious online existence where you live through what your system can provide and less what your skills are. End
