NORTH STAR RISING A THREAD
After the #PodBibleListeningParty I binged the rest of ‘ #northstarrising’ by @mikebithell. It was an immersive experience which offered me an escape from the monotony of lockdown.
The next day I listened again in full.
I tried to work out what it was that had kept me so entertained.
Sci-fi isn’t my normal genre
I don’t really listen to audiobooks
Podcasts aren’t generally my thing.
I couldn’t place it.
To be honest I was overthinking it, which is the one thing this 3 hour audio gem offered me a way out of.
It’s just a witty, enjoyable story. Where you can switch off and relax into a collective at the top of their game.
Here are a few of my favourite lines from #northstarrising

✨Apparently, the english speaking hero with the pen hadn’t gotten around to this room

✨“Cinderella”he muttered. Nobody got the reference, unsurprisingly.”That’s her shoe” He said, to clear it up for his new companions
✨ “I didn’t see Earth on there.”
“What?” Suvak replied.
“Oh. I said I didn’t see Earth on there. It’s marked as an unpopulated planet on most starmaps. It’s also, well, not unpopulated.

✨ “My name’s not ‘Tsar’, Grunk. They call me… Otis, Space Hero. Or at least they should.”
✨ “Grunk,” began Otis, “I want to tell you a story. It’s a story about a friend of mine, Steve. Steve and me used to work at Computer Planet. Weekends, back when I was at sixth form.”
✨ There was a difference between stealing an apple and stealing an apple truck. Of course, at this point, Belto had stolen entire Apple fleets. Belto was a dangerous man, and he was proud of that. There was nothing he wouldn’t steal.
And finally

✨ “No,” said Tara, “that was just a vector class starship. We’re North Star. We always were.”

A fantastic experience and one of the highlights of the last few months.

Thank you to everyone involved for creating it.

✨Stay safe and reach for the stars ✨
