So many people here there’s not nearly enough tickets for everyone wanting to get in. Stands are filling in, packed. Ace Speedway, Altamahaw, N.C.

And then there was racin’.

“If you gotta sneeze or cough, don’t do it in somebody’s face,” the man on the public address tells the crowd.

As I leave the track, the man on the PA system talks about Memorial Day, and freedom, and how “tonight is a big display of our freedom.” References the founding fathers, etc.

Special thanks to @adam_smithTN for showing me around the track this evening. We comprised a not insignificant percentage of those in masks here. Don’t think I’ll soon forget my first trip to the Ace Speedway in Altamahaw.
