How does passing distribution relate to #footballindex PB from Bayern Munich vs Frankfurt:
The diagram shows the passes completed between players
Dark Green=15+ passes
Light Green=12-14
Yellow= 9-11
Orange= 6-8
Red=5
All passing data gathered by @StatsZone
PB Scores:
Neuer-100
Pavard-116
Boateng/Hernandez-62/47
Alaba-184
Davies- 210 (1G 1A)
Kimmich- 223
Goretzka- 184 (1GWG)
Muller- 161 (1G 1A)
Coman- 173 (1A)
Perisic- 78
Lewandowski- 119 (1G)
Most popular passing lanes:
Pavard to Coman: 17
Neuer to Alaba: 15
Davies to Alaba: 15
Pavard to Muller: 14
Alaba to Kimmich: 14
Alaba to Davies: 13

Neuer to Alaba the main route into defence
Alaba the main route into DM's
Pavard provides the main route into attack
Looking at Bayern's passing pattern we see definite attacking movement towards the right with Pavard, Kimmich and Coman forming an important triangle on their movement out from defence. Getting the ball there that all comes through Alaba.

We see that reflected in the PB scores
Without considering goals and assists here are some of the key battles in similar positions we are thinking about:

Alaba 184 vs Boateng 67
Pavard 116 vs Davies 145 (will discuss this one later)
Coman 153 vs Perisic 78
Kimmich 223 vs Goretzka 99
Looking at these PB scores we see the player that is involved in these key passing movements out has the greater PB (by far mostly)

The only exception is Pavard vs Davies....
Looking at the full-backs we see one who is previously a winger and one who is previously a centre back. We see this develop in their styles.
Pavard forms the right-hand side of a high Bayern defensive line with 31 of his 70 passes in the middle third.
Davies uses the overlap...
...formed by the efforts to defend this passing triangle and comes to form a big part of the attacking combination on the counter and therefore despite not being involved in this attacking progression he has more touches (98 vs 94) but these touches come in attack
Joshua Kimmich:
The key to Kimmich's success is the difference between his attacking and build-up actions. When Kimmich is in the build-up phase as part of this "passing triangle" his passes are short with 42 of his passes in the middle third and 71 of his 76 passes being short
When Kimmich gets into the attacking phase those passes quickly turn into incisive passes with 5 of his 15 attacking third passes being key passes and he also provided 9 crosses of which 5 were successful which is where a lot of his attacking points come from
Conclusions:
-Possession and passing lanes are key for the development of a base score
-Ultimately the development of attacking progression are key for building a high score (Davies vs Pavard case)
-The final winning scores will come down to being able to provide goals and assist
