Weaver ants are obviously the most stylish ants! So much so that news articles keep using pictures of them for articles about other species of ant! Sorry for such a ped*ant*ic series of tweets coming up.🐜 Some examples below...
1. @Nature Books and Arts section used them to illustrate an article about desert ants...

https://twitter.com/Padraig_Kennedy/status/1214987532871618560?s=20
2. BBC @CountryfileMag used them to illustrate an article about UK insects...

(weaver ants live in Africa and Asia/Australia)

3. @WIREDScience magazine used them for an article about red imported fire ants...

https://www.wired.com/story/one-species-loves-our-climate-wrecking-ways-fire-ants/
(...as did, incidentally, a random website about anarchist prisoners (?) ( https://itsgoingdown.org/fire-ant-anarchist-prisoner-solidarity-4/) and a student paper from Nottingham Uni ( https://igniteunmc.com/introducing-the-curious-fire-ants/)):
4. The @DailyMirror (always good on its insects) blamed them for the death of a lady in Bolivia (again with that photo of the not-fire-ant):

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/woman-mistaken-car-thief-dies-9566405
5. There are loads of pest control websites in the US with big pictures of them for some reason:
6. ...and there's even a website for identifying ant species that uses a weaver ant for the genus Formicoxenus:

https://ants.com/ultimate-ant-guide/#
In short, everyone wants their ants to be weaver ants!

To be fair, they are the best ants 🐜🐜🐜 https://www.researchgate.net/publication/228666287_A_masterpiece_of_evolution-Oecophylla_weaver_ants_Hymenoptera_Formicidae
