Vaughan developer’s son is again at the Ontario legislature protest.... This protest has grown quite a bit. It doesn’t seem to have as many conspiracy theorists, but more regular people who are frustrated. I believe It will keep growing, as people become angry
Also the Woodbridge chapter of the biker gang, did an enormous ride up to their Wasaga clubhouse this afternoon. Must have been over 50 bikes. People in cars were cheering.
The mood has definitely changed as I went out today. It’s defiant, a bit pissed off. That good faith has left. Far less people in masks. (I wore mine).
Many more people. I’m seeing less conspiracy signs, more signs against the banks, Ford govt. up here in Vaughan we’ve got young people racing their cars in packs. Many more shootings
I’m not excusing any of it. But as we’ve seen in Europe, when people lose jobs, given no hope for future employment, there’s a lawlessness that follows. Canadian banks/lenders are quietly foreclosing on businesses, next will be debtors. This summer could be very bad & violent
That large car in the center is either RCMP/OPP. They’re no doubt monitoring the protests growth. The federal govt has to jump in to take over testing/tracing that Ford govt messed up. They have to start giving message of hope, than finger waving.
Govt outreach to unemployed in service sectors. Apprenticeship programs, study/skill programs. Start outreach to colleges to cover training. Then, put a leash on their crown corporation banks. Make them stand down. Shame banks. They’ve made a lot of money, they need to give back
downtown Toronto could become another Detroit. Vast empty storefronts, foreclosed condo units. Corporate Canada, like RBC, are saying they will not be opening back up Corp offices until 2021. Industries that serve these Corporations will further close. Tory’s huge service cuts
And the reason that Toronto became so profitable, so lively, could be its detriment. So many young people moved downtown. So many now out of work, with more credit/mortgage debt than any generation before. I don’t want another G20
Banks, lender and the real estate industry sold many of these people into debt slavery. Everything is broken now, these people cannot even work themselves out of debt. I shudder to think how bad this could get. Seeing that protest brought to mind Greece
someone tell Tory to knock off the “He’s going to cut Toronto services to the bone” 9000 city staff laid off, Cutting transit, firing staff, cancelling childcare, community centres. His threats are to awaken unions/activists. The subsequent protest carnage will be his fault
And that developers son...that police truck is capturing all your cellphone data. That exact method they used to pick you up on that drug raid last year... do you ever learn?
Hoping John Tory & police won’t overact on this. It’s a tinderbox. Send police in to kick people out? then you only force these gatherings underground & growing resentment anger. https://twitter.com/blogto/status/1264306674296393728?s=21 https://twitter.com/blogto/status/1264306674296393728
In the French town I visit, town officials didn’t want tourist beach goers to walk bare chested/in bathing suits thru the town square. They sent volunteers to hand out free T-shirt’s to those people & bottles of sunscreen to everyone. It worked. People were aware of the bylaw
That Toronto didn’t anticipate this is baffling. Have people give out free masks, paint circles on the grass, signage. People are going to gather, if you arrest them, rioting will occur. Happily Give them tools, most will comply
Wrong move. https://twitter.com/cp24/status/1264518336265756678?s=21 this could become a stupid move. Thankfully it’s going to rain https://twitter.com/cp24/status/1264518336265756678
