Just speaking with a colleague who is seeking counseling but only willing to do cash pay and not use insurance due to privacy issues. While I respect this choice and I 100% understand it due to state medical board questions, I wish we had another way. Especially now.

I usually code professionals with concerns as an adjustment disorder. But most doctors who see me pay cash rather than use their insurance.

I would honestly advise any physician to never declare a mental health problem unless they had, after a professional capacity, been hospitalized for mental illness or detox.

I would also advise them not to be candid on social media or other outlets about their histories unless it is already known to the board.
