(1) That Pesky @nytimes per capita Cases map really grinds my gears.
The selected color mapping minimizes the visual impact of the massive land mass that has infection rate of 0.5-1.0%
I've remapped the colors to make my point!

(2) With the breakpoints and color map selected by the @nytimes, this map deemphasizes the huge territory that is infected by #coronavirus at the 0.5-1.0% level, or 5,000-to-10,000 Cases per 1M Residents.
(3) I've remapped the background color to Navy Blue so it strongly contrasts with the infected regions, and I've remapped the infected reasons to yellow, orange and red.
The visual impact is obvious and immediate. #COVID19 is covering 60% of the Continental United States!

(4) The large regions that are still Navy Blue are extremely low population density as we can see from this picture of the continental US at night taken from space.
(5) The Navy Blue regions of Florida are Everglade wildlife preserves full of alligators.
Gorillas really don't like alligators, though this is a crocodile, but there are crocodiles in Florida now, too.

(6) My main point is this. If your county is yellow in this map, it is a warning, not a blessing.
Don't be confused by the underlying bias of the @nytimes when they create these beautiful maps. The #coronavirus isn't across the border, or somewhere else. It's everywhere.
