After seeing some of the beef on the TL I just want to make a few things clear about what Hindus believe in. Hindus do not have a centralized belief system, we are not an organized faith. Within the Hindu "umbrella" there are multiple belief systems in place. (1/6)
We share common beliefs and traditions, but there are some that vary by sect (Vaishnavas, Shaivas etc) and subsect (Vaishnavs have Swaminarayan, Pustimarg etc). They do not only vary by sect/subsect but also by regions within India as well as other countries like Nepal. (2/6)
An example of these differences would be the practice of animal sacrifice, Vaishnavas do not commonly perform this ritual while Shaktas do, in regions like West Bengal etc. There is also the question of, how many Gods do Hindus believe in? Well, again there is not just one (3/6)
belief about how many "Gods" there are. Some people believe that there is a formless, all pervading ultimate reality (nirguna Brahman) and that the Devas like Ganesh etc are expressions of that one truth, in this belief, the "Gods" cannot be quantified because the idea of (4/6)
Brahman is infinite. There are some people who believe that there is one Supreme Bhagvan and that the other Devas are dependent on him (super-souls), but still have "God-like" powers. You also have people who believe that all Devas are equal and that there are many of them. (5/6)
In the end it does not matter which one of these paths you take because they will still take you to the same truth. I've linked some videos below that are useful in understanding these beliefs a bit more.

If you would like any clarification I'm happy to help.
