I see government ministers are mounting an enormous effort to create a consensual reality where Dominic Cummings did not do a terrible and selfish thing that he clearly should not have done. They can try but I’m not sure The Matrix can compute this level of awful.

There’s being a ‘disruptor’ and then there’s trashing any notion of reputable public life, upholding values, and maintaining some form of solidarity between those who govern and those that are governed. Cummings has driven his charming horse and coaches through it.

I used to know his wife Mary very vaguely, however...a fact that only dawned on me due to this debacle. Mary was really quite nice, I seem to recall. But what a mess and how extraordinary to see an entire government bet its future on a single couple with incestuous connections.
