1. Me and Your Mama: Me and Your Mama is a track with chilling instrumentals and ambiguous lyrics about love. Gambino talking about wanting this girl, truly feeling that it is true love, not "puppy love" as he states in the song.
2. 3005: Gambino talks about loving this girl until 3005 or in other words, for eternity. Talking how he hates being alone and would always want to be with this girl. Gambino is content with just getting right into this realtionship as he talks not caring what the future brings.
3. I. Pink Toes: Gambino with this girl now, is in the middle of the relationship. In the honeymoon phase of the relationship, Gambino and Jhene Aiko, who plays the girl aspire about going far. Aiko sings about going far away with Gambino.
4. Redbone: In their relationship, Gambino is paranoid about the relationship He feels that spending so much money on this girl could backfire in the future. Gambino talks about staying woke in the chorus in regards to the girl possibly cheating, paranoid about her leaving.
5. Letter Home (Interlude)- At this point, the relationship is falling apart. Doubt fron both sides of the relationship is driving them apart. But, Gambino is going for one last try for this girl, sounding desperate for her.
6. Sober - The relationship is now at its dead end. They've broken up, and Gambino is in grief, he begins this process by getting high and talking about the relationship. But through talking about this, it seems he's trying to grab another girl
7. American Royalty - Gambino is in denial. He goes on this track to brag about all this stuff he has, as its his new replacement. The trumpets on this track with a RZA verse in the begininng introduces you to this new, in your face Gambino who doesn't need this girl.
8. Unnecessary - Gambino is talking about all unnecessary things he has in this track. Knowing these things are not needs, but still brags this comes with verses Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, who brag about their stuff also, talking about things like drugs and going around the world.
9. I. The Party - Gambino talks about this party and how there is drinking, smoking, etc. Gambino is stuck in his thoughts about this party. In a sudden momentum switch, Gambino realizing most of these people at his house werent invited, so he yells at everyone to leave.
10. 39.28 - A now sober Gambino is in his thoughts. Gambino is wondering why so many people went to this party and werent invited. Gambino is ready to accept his past now. Soaking in pain wondering how he can last without the girl
11. monster - Childish Gambino had now realized that he's caught up in this fame, woth money, drugs, alcohol, etc. Gambino teams up with 21 Savage on this track to talk about what money and fame can do to a person, make them a monster.
12. Terrified - After his last relationship, Gambino is scared to get into another one. The fear of it going downhill again terrifies him. Talking to himself, telling himself not to hide from starting a relationship because you are part of the reason the last one didnt last.
13. This Is America - In terms of this album, the track is about not messing up. He talks about wanting to party and get rich for a girl, saying that this girl is making him dance. Those words are in the back of his head, but he's muchured into his new persona, Donald Glover.
14. Stand Tall - In this track, Gambino gives advice on being strong and how everyone should have self respect for them selves. This comes from advice that his parents gave him as a child, which is to stand tall in every moment or in other words, stay positive.
15. 47.48 - Glover talks about being in the present. He wants to live in the present, but makes a conflicting point about being self-aware of the violence in the world. At the end, Glover is talking to his young daughter about love and turns into a conversation about self love.
16. La Biblioteca (Bonus Track) - Obviously Glover's best piece of work
