1. I took a walk wading through water logged streets from Bhuikailash Road to Dent Mission Road in #Khidirpur, #Kolkata today evening passing through #Mominpur Bazar and #Ekbalpore Road.

Short THREAD on current situations 3 days after the devastating #SuperCycloneAmphan:
2. Although water has receded from some streets, there is still water upto knee (and more) on most arterial streets of Khidirpur, Ekbalpore, Mominpur. Surprisingly, I did hardly noticed any pump working to hasten clearing streets from water.
3. This is Mominpur Bazar around 5 pm today.
4. Ekbalpore Road, Near 4 Batti More.
5. Dent Mission Road, photos taken by my Brother @faiyazmd007
6. Trees fallen on many streets and several on DH Road.

These two at Ekbalpore More near Solaa Ana Masjid and Dr Sudhir Basu Road-DM Road crossing.
7. No doubt this time havoc is far bigger and due to cyclone.. but water logging is a perennial issue in this pocket.

What is surprising is part of Khidirpur comes under the constituency of CM Mamata Banerjee and other parts under Mayor and Urban Development Min Firhad Hakim.
8. Interestingly for over a year some swerage work going on on several streets, God only knows when that will complete...
9. Because of water logging and also coz wires and poles have been damaged many areas are still in dark on third night after the cyclone and simultaneously have no water supply.
10. My brother @faiyazmd007 managed this 10 water cans of 20 litre each after running helter-skelter since afternoon at 8 pm for home to use them in washroom 🤦🏽

(but how many can afford to pay so much for water).
11. Water logging for so many days are easy breeding ground for mosquitoes and may lead to outbreak of dengue (as if corona pandemic was not enough).

I hope KMC, CESE and other civic bodies wake up soon and do something.
12. This thread was to tell people who shout about "minority appeasement" that all Muslims get are lollipops while the focus of development and even emergency relief is always on developed pockets of the city.
