(THREAD) #TWEWY So, I’ve been doing a bit of digging lately. Miy showed me this a little while ago, and although I had seen it before it didn’t really hit me until recently what this could mean. Although this specific part of the Final Remix trailers isn’t entirely unknown to us
but I haven’t seen many people bring it up, that’s why I’m going to compile everything I’ve researched and am currently theorising here so we can open up more discussion about this.
For anyone unaware of what this even is, in the teaser trailer for TWEWY Final Remix, a part of the trailer shows us some combat screens and in one part it shows us something that never made it to the final game. In the attached frame, you can clearly see the same style of combat
as featured in the Nintendo DS original where there Partner is controlled by button presses (compare to the screen cap below). At first I, and presumably others, brushed it off, but I decided to investigate this. While nothing super important showed up from my searches, I did
make a discovery that the only time this type of combat (in Final Remix) was shown was in the initial teaser trailer. This tells us that seemingly very early on the plans for Final Remix were changed up significantly. We can speculate that TWEWY Final Remix was originally planned
as a full scale remake rather than just a port , but development had changed or shifted very early on. It always struck me as weird that they would use Solo Remix as a base for the Switch version, it was not optimised well for the new console at all. But now we know, or at least
can assume, that Final Remix was going to be a remake, this may at least clear up some questions we had about the game’s development. This means there exists, or at least existed, a version of TWEWY in the Switch that used the DS’ original control scheme. Although this was cut
perhaps because of time constraints, from Final Remix, there’s a very high chance that this will be brought back for the speculated sequel. Handheld mode would now use this better optimised control scheme more akin to the DS’, Square had this planned at the very least, so if
there are any worries about TWEWY2 being like Final Remix, I don’t think there’s any worries here as it’s highly unlikely they would ignore the backlash for FR’s controls.
Now this is where we hand it over to you! Did you know about this? What do you reckon this could mean for the sequel? Let us know, and share your thoughts! As always, retweets are appreciated, we look forward to your ideas and opinions!
@twewyspain We might have found something that could lead us to more proof of a sequel being planned. Scrapped gameplay from Final Remix.
