was just reflecting on our use of "strength" as a positive & how it is demonstrative of unhealthy cultural values.
i was thinking about how men are told to be "strong" & what that means. & how women have historically received mixed messages around strength & subservience & how this has resulted in so much toxicity that we hold in each of us
i started to think about light being bounced back within a prism until it exploded & other visuals to demonstrate what happens when we& #39;re made to suppress who we are... & then i realized...
root-bound plants are the perfect visualization of how we choke ourselves out by suppressing who we are because of what the world around us tells us.
friendly reminder: the world tells us everything. conflicting things. all of us.
we tend to internalize what is most personal to us. whether it& #39;s the message itself or the messenger.
really the only universal message (imo) that any of us should be hearing is to care about how we impact the world around us & to prioritize doing what& #39;s right.
really the only universal message (imo) that any of us should be hearing is to care about how we impact the world around us & to prioritize doing what& #39;s right.
that& #39;s a moving target, & that& #39;s ok. things don& #39;t need to be definitive. we should all be raising the bar all the time & looking to improve
