I have been going through some diary notes on Ann Walker, re her appearance. I ran into a thread in which we were discussing a diary entry, "Mr. Jubb scarred Ann's face." There was a "plaster" applied. It was a "cuticular" problem. @SearchingForAnn #GentlemanJack #AnneLister 1/3
Anne goes on to say "Not the skin that was the seat of the disease, but the corpus mucosum". I recall the latin word "reticulatum" (net-like, veinous) in the discussion. The "plaster" would have kept the edges of the wound in place, possibly a mustard plaster. (David Hughes)2/3
There are two other places I have read mentioning Ann's face backing this up. One involved a doctor (Belcombe?Brodie? Who?) discussing a "scrofula" or "scrofulous" condition. and in Russia "Ann's face" was again mentioned.
#AnneListerCodeBreakers can we review/revisit this? 3/3
