Siege of Savannah

Haitian soldiers fought along side American soldiers in combat against the British. 500 Haitians soldiers were sent to Savannah to assist against Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
City of Chicago

A Haitian man named Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable founded the city of Chicago around the 1770s. The third largest city in America. The city that birthed many black liberals and entertainers.
Louisiana

Haitian refugees were feared. Many southern US politicians thought if Haitians can overthrow the French, imagine the damage control they could influence in the south-which is why Louisiana banned most Haitian refugees but that didn’t stop 🇭🇹 shine.

Proud leader of the Civil Rights Movement. If you know about Mr X you know he was all about shaking the table, he wanted black advancement & referenced how black ppl should look to Haiti heroes for inspiration.
Frederick Douglas

Famous American abolitionist and reformer. The Haitian revolution was Mr.Douglas’s blueprint for black empowerment. Photos below explain his love for Haiti’s bravery.
Booker T Washington

Founder of the HBCU, Tuskegee University. Adviser to many US presidents & an elite leader of the AA community. He wanted racial solidarity for AAs and used Haiti as an example of so.
Nat Turner

Mr.Turner led a four day rebellion and massacred slave owners and their families. His revolt was influenced by Haiti’s rebellion, below is an excerpt from the governor of Virginia at the time realizing the correlation between both events.
Denmark Vesey

A freed slave who was planning potentially one of the biggest slave revolts in US history. He wanted to liberate enslaved black ppl just like the Haitians and seek refuge in Haiti.
Angela Davis

Former Black Panther Party member, as in the group that worked hard in exposing & dismantling systematic oppression. Ms.Davis referenced that ppl should learn from Haiti revolution & many others for black advancement.
